Set a realistic correction target
Paint polishing is a controlled process for improving superficial marks and dullness. Scratches vary in depth, and some damage extends beyond the clearcoat. Inspection helps establish what can reasonably be improved. Abrasiveness is selected according to the paint and any previous repairs; the aim is not to remove every mark at the expense of unnecessarily reducing the available finish on the vehicle.
Clean, polish and inspect
The vehicle is washed and bonded dirt, resin or similar residues are removed using appropriate methods. A suitable compound and pad combination is selected for controlled correction. Rather than applying one product identically to every panel, the response of the surface is monitored. Residues and holograms are checked at the end, and a suitable wax or protection option can be discussed as part of the care plan.
Habits that support the gloss
Suitable regular washing helps maintain the appearance after polishing. Harsh brushes, dirty cloths and dry rubbing can introduce new marks. Better washing habits matter even when a wax or coating is selected afterwards. Deep scratches, chipped paint and damaged clearcoat may need separate repair. Further polishing should follow the actual condition of the finish rather than a rigid calendar, because intensive correction is not needed at every visit.
