Assess the composite correctly
A Kevlar-containing component should not be assessed by appearance alone. Paint, resin or another finish may cover the material, so cleaning must suit the actual surface system. Cracks, separation or impact signs require further evaluation. Cosmetic care and structural composite repair are different tasks, and that distinction should be made clear when agreeing on the scope of work for the affected part.
Separate care from repair
Suitable areas are considered for non-aggressive cleaning, with products selected for the existing finish. Cosmetic care or protective treatment is planned only where appropriate. Any signs of damage receive separate attention so that the component’s structural condition can inform the repair plan. Repair requirements are confirmed after reviewing access, material construction and damage, with the technical scope clearly established before further work is agreed.
Maintain care around actual use
After marine surface work, regular condition checks remain important. Salt deposits, sunlight, contact and cleaning habits can influence the result. Ask your dealer to explain the treated areas, appropriate care products and any conditions before returning the vessel to use. If new marks, wear or damage appear, reassessment is preferable to aggressive treatment and helps identify a suitable next step for that surface.
